LEADING CUSHION MANUFACTURING ENTERS AREA RUG SEGMENT
Foamex GFI Introduces Revolutionary New Non-Slip Area Rug Pad
LINWOOD, PA, December 2, 2004 –
Recognizing the growth in area rugs and the need for quality area
rug accessories, Foamex GFI of Foamex International Inc. (NASDAQ: FMXI) has introduced
ComfortGripper™.
A revolutionary non-slip area rug pad, ComfortGripper features a unique chemistry
resulting in four times the gripping power of other pads currently available. Designed
to limit rug movement, ComfortGripper is intended to protect consumer's homes and
families from slipping and tripping hazards.
"The area rug segment is growing - realizing more than a 5 percent increase in
manufacturer sales last year," said Steve Stockwell, Executive Vice President of
Foamex GFI. "Consumers are buying area rugs and desire top quality accessories to
complement their purchase."
ComfortGripper is designed for functionality as well as comfort underfoot. Produced
using an exclusive chemical formula, ComfortGripper has a finer, more carefully controlled
foam cell structure to create a durable and secure bond between rug and floor - whether
carpet or hard surface.
"Through comprehensive trials and testing we have created a unique anti-slip material
ideal for area rugs," said Dr. Chiu Chan, Vice President of Research and Development of
Foamex International. "ComfortGripper's durable construction keeps rugs securely in
place in the heaviest of household traffic areas."
Hand washable and easy to cut for a precise fit, ComfortGripper will not yellow or
indent floors like some textured pads. The first and only area rug pad featuring
Ultra-Freshâ Antimicrobial Treatment, ComfortGripper protects the home and area rug
by eliminating odor causing mold, mildew and bacteria.
ComfortGripper will be available in 4-by-6, 6-by-9 and 9-by-12 sizes in January 2005,
and will be showcased at the 2005 Surfaces Expo Jan. 25, 2005 at the Sands Expo and
Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
