Reflex® Cushioning

Of course we are biased, but we strongly believe that all-Reflex construction makes the best furniture cushioning. Reflex® furniture cushioning combines state-of-the-art environmentally-friendly production technology and a thorough understanding of furniture construction needs, with your expectation for a luxuriously comfortable cushion that is guaranteed to never wear out.

Laboratory tests comparing support, firmness retention, height and shape retention and strength properties show Reflex® cushioning is equal or better than the very best and most expensive cushioning available. Yet Reflex® can be found in furniture produced by many different manufacturers at a range of prices. It does make you wonder why everyone doesn't use Reflex!

So when you shop for furniture, please help us pass the word. Please ask for Reflex® cushioning by name.

We believe that Reflex® cushioning represents the first line of reasonably priced furniture cushions that will truly never wear out. So, we've backed all our Reflex® products with a lifetime satisfaction guarantee. Should you ever have a problem with a Reflex® cushion, there's no need to bother the retailer or manufacturer. Just call us direct (the toll-free number is printed on our hang tag) and we'll replace your cushion core. It's as simple as that.

Conventional Polyurethane Foam

Most cushions sold today are still conventional polyurethane foam.Depending upon the density (the pounds of material per cubic foot), garden-variety polyurethane foam can do a pretty good job of providing long lasting comfort. So why do manufacturers and retailers want more? With conventional foam, support is limited unless the conventional polyurethane foam cushion is very firm to begin with or has very high density. Conventional foam also can lose shape, and firmness can change with use. So for more support and comfort, and long-lasting performance, many manufacturers and retailers specify Reflex® cushioning.

Polyurethane Foam With Fiber Wrap

Conventional polyurethane can make a good cushion core. But edges tend to be too firm and the surface "hand" doesn't lend itself to making a nice crowned cushion top. The old solution was to wrap the polyurethane with a thick layer of polyester fiber batting. That combination looks good and feels great… for a while. But polyester fibers tend to compact and lose shape with use. Loss of cushion height is a big concern to manufacturers because then covers creep and tailoring doesn't look right.

Reflex Wrap™ was introduced as a solution to the problem of polyester batting losing height and shape. Reflex Wrap™ is the ideal replacement for polyester fiber batting. It has all the softness and styling versatility of fiber without having height loss problems.

HR Foam

High density, high resilience (HR) foam is considered to be the Cadillac of cushioning. High density HR foam provides a great combination of comfort, deep down support and durability. HR foam is particularly suited to use for with heavy fabrics and leathers. However, surface softness is limited by the density, and low density HR products often provide limited performance. Reflex HR™ cushioning has the ability to provide extra deep down support without needing an extra firm surface. A softer surface plus greater cushion support adds up to outstanding seating comfort.
So, for performance like high density HR foam, and softness more like down and feathers, many manufacturers and retailers specify Reflex® cushioning.

Latex Foam Rubber

If HR foam is the Cadillac of cushioning, then latex foam rubber is the Rolls Royce. Many years ago, before there was much polyurethane foam available, much of the high-end upholstered furniture in the United States contained latex foam rubber cushioning. Latex had the right combination of surface softness and deep down support. And high quality latex offered the kind of long lasting performance consumers expected from highest quality furnishings. But latex came at a high price, many times higher than the best polyurethane foam. Guess what? Tests show that our very own ReflexHR® cushioning is the perfect performance substitute for latex foam, and at a price that won't require you to have a Swiss bank account.

Down And Blend/Down

There's a special romance about cushions filled with blends of feather and down. It's that incredible soft squishy feel that makes many people want to dig deep into their wallets. Natural fill cushions offer that luxurious feel. No doubt about it.

There are many variations of feather/down and feather blend (feather and down blended with polyester fiber) jackets for cushions. For true value, the construction and blend of components are vital. The proper feather and down blend can provide extraordinary comfort and support in combination with a Reflex®core. If you are interested in that luxurious feel, look for feather and down cushions with the Reflex® in-home warranty program. These products have been tested and certified as "Quality-First"SM products.

All Polyester Fiber / All Cotton

There's a trendy style called "shabby chic" that has us scratching our heads with bewilderment. Like buying pre-washed blue jeans, "shabby chic" designs often have extra thick cushions that come new with a "lived in" look. To give pieces a broken-in appearance and mushy feel, manufacturers often use all-polyester fiber or all-cotton batting construction. Fabrics are typically soft, natural selections. The problem is that the "lived in" look you see in the store is as good looking as it will ever be. As cushion filling materials continue to compact, the "lived in" look may quickly advance to a less desirable "worn out' appearance. And yes, we have special Reflex® cushioning products to help manufacturers create "shabby chic" designs that can remain attractive and stylish for years after the purchase.
